This piece comes from the early 1930's and it is a hand-carved Toad or Frog out of a stone that contained both Malachite (green) and Lapis (Blue) minerals. The frog was cleverly carved using the intricate colors of each mineral.
The carving measures approximately 3 1/2 inches long by 2 1/2 inches wide. This museum quality carving has remarkable detail. Lapis and Malachite are often found together intertwined but seldom in large enough pieces to create such a sculpture.
